Manchester Camerata with Karen Cargill: Hearing Voices

Concerts

Lancaster Arts invites you to immerse yourself in a powerful and moving experience with the Manchester Camerata. Hearing Voices explores the work and memory of those before us, told dramatically by the powerful voices of the Manchester Camerata and Karen Cargill.

From Casals to Tippett, with Britten’s Phaedra as a centrepiece, the evening will tell a story of obsession, forbidden love and death, closing with Vivaldi's Four Seasons for a climatic end to the evening.

Scottish mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill is one of the most renowned singers of her generation. Winner of the 2002 Kathleen Ferrier Award, Karen has gone on to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Operatic Recording as part of the Metropolitan Opera’s recording of Dialogues des Carmélites. She will be performing alongside 29 of the Manchester Camerata's finest musicians.

Manchester Camerata prides itself on an original combination of craft and courage, as comfortable opening Glastonbury Festival as they are recording Mozart at the highest level. Camerata are passionate about the traditional craft of an orchestra and how it is evolving.
