As a relatively small arts team, our activity is enhanced and supported through a network of partners and supporting consortia. Our key partners are listed below together with some of the networks with whom we are currently working to maximise the reach and benefit of our activity locally and nationally:

Local

Partnering with Local Arts Partners

In the last year, our seasons have included new and old partnerships with local arts and cultural organisations: Lancaster Museums, The Dukes, Lancaster Literature Festival, Ludus Dance, LPM Dance Theatre and Lancaster Jazz Festival.

Lancaster Arts Partners (LAP)

We are delighted to be a member of LAP in developing an exciting joined up cultural offer for Lancaster, Morecambe and the district. LAP deliver the Lancaster Arts City initiative, which includes Light Up Lancaster every November. LAP also enables links with Lancashire-wide arts networks such as Arts Lancashire.

Lancaster University

Lancaster Arts acts as a two-way portal to support relationships between research and the arts. The university has many interdisciplinary research centres and institutes that we are proud to partner with such as:

Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA)

LICA is Lancaster University’s Arts & Design School providing high quality academic teaching and research in fine art, design, theatre and film on campus. Lancaster Arts works on a day-to-day basis with our colleagues at LICA in delivering a joined up programme of workshops, after show discussions and artists talks that are open to the public.

Regional

North x NW

North by NorthWest is a network of publicly funded visual arts organisations who have come together to support, promote and develop the contemporary visual arts in Lancashire and Cumbria. Established in 2009 North by NorthWest consists of twelve member organisations of different sizes, structures and offers. NxNW is a regional sub-division of the national Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN).

Dance Consortia North West

Dance Consortia North West (DCNW) is a partnership of dance development organisations, venues, companies, independent artists and HE institutions. Lancaster Arts sits on both the Exec panel and the Venues Group.

National

Live Art UK (LAUK) and Live Art North West (LANWest)

Live Art UK is a network of 30 venues, promoters and facilitators who collectively represent a range of practices and are concerned with all aspects of the development and promotion of the Live Art sector. The network aims to be a representative voice for Live Art practices and initiatives in the UK and is coordinated by the Live Art Development Agency with members ranging from the Fierce Festival (Birmingham) to Wunderbar (Newcastle). Lancaster Arts plays an active role in two key programmes: Diverse Actions and DIY.

Arts Organisations within Higher Education (UCAN UK)

Lancaster Arts sits on the steering group of a dynamic network of arts organisations who share similarly linked university circumstances with members from across England, Scotland and Wales ranging from Pontio (Bangor, Wales) to the Warwick Arts Centre; Lincoln Performing Arts Centre to Kings Cultural Institute at Kings College London. Members unite universities with their constituencies, offering cultural corridors and pathways to creative participation, linking research and arts practice to create exciting innovation and building new audiences for the arts.
