For Artists
Are you an artist with an idea that you’d like to develop? We’d love to hear from you.
How we work
Lancaster Arts has adopted a thematic approach to our whole programme that integrates commissions, workshops, site-specific work and artist development opportunities such as residencies, performance and exhibitions. This enables our programme to speak across artforms and through new approaches to ideas and concepts.
Previous themes have included ‘Women & Circus’, ‘Rework’ and ‘Pathways’. Our 22/23 theme is ‘Age and Ageing’. We also continue our ongoing focus on place in the Lancaster District.
We have a collaborative programming team who work together to ensure a rich, diverse and varied programme. Our artist commissions, residencies and artist development programmes happen throughout the year.
Does Lancaster Arts accept artist proposals?
Yes, we welcome your ideas! If you are an artist, collective, company, performer, composer, theatre maker or simply have a creative practice you think will fit with our programme, please email us at producers@lancasterarts.org
The proposals we receive are shared at our programme team meetings. If there is an opportunity to see your work do let us know how and where – we welcome invitations to see new work and will do our best to attend.
What information should I include in my proposal?
The points below are a minimum to help to give us a clear understanding of your proposal and how we can get in touch:
Your name and contact details
An introduction to your practice and suitable online links
A brief description of your proposal
How this relates to our programme approach or theme
Please ensure any attachments do not exceed 5mb.
Due to the volume of proposals we receive, we can’t respond to each individually, however, if we are able to take your proposal further, we will contact you as soon as possible. Please do not send original artworks or unique documents – Lancaster Arts cannot take responsibility for any damage sustained to such items and will not be able to return them.
