Academic Call Out - Lancaster Arts TEST Residency: On LAND

In January 2025 Lancaster Arts will host an artist*, working within any artform, to undertake a weeklong residency with us to explore the theme of LAND, alongside academics at Lancaster University.

Are you interested in, or does your work relate to the theme of LAND? Are you curious to collaborate with an artist to explore how the interplay of art and research can foster new and innovative ways of exploring complex ideas?

Lancaster Arts invites expressions of interest from researchers across the university to host a mini-residency for an artist for half a day between 20 – 24 January 2025.   Lancaster Arts wishes to engage with a small number of academics interested in open-ended enquiries and exploring new territory in collaboration with an artist.  We welcome expressions of interest from academics who have experience working with artists as well as those who are curious but have not explored this previously.

We are interested in hearing from researchers whose interests or work relates to our 2025 theme, LAND, from a variety of perspectives and disciplines. Areas of interest might include the physical landscape, land use, land ownership and land rights, borders and boundaries, human impacts on or experiences of landscapes. We welcome expressions of interest from any department at Lancaster University.

Note that this residency is for an open exploration/exchange period only, although it may result in a commission for a new collaborative artwork.
