Nature is calling you

Nature Calling is a national programme, run by the National Landscapes Association, in partnership with Activate and supported by the Poetry School and funded by Arts Council England and Defra.

Lancaster Arts is one of six producers across the country, working with a local National Landscape to create exciting art with, and for, the public who live in and around that landscape. In the Forest of Bowland, the project kicks off this autumn with Manchester-based writer, artist and rapper OneDa, who has been running workshops with young people at Blaze Arts in Burnley and developing ideas for a written and/or performed work.

Bowland-bred and Lancaster-based artist, Rob St. John (pictured) will build on OneDa’s ideas and work with communities in and around Bowland to develop a series of film, sound and textile installations that highlight the diverse voices and perspectives of the communities in the area. The culminating project, Are You Lost? will be presented to the public in the summer of 2025.

Whether Bowland is an inescapable part of your life or completely unfamiliar to you, we invite you to be part of Nature Calling, as we come together to create a spectacular summer of outdoor art in 2025.

Lancaster Arts will share updates on how you can get involved via our website, social media and mailing lists.

You can also take a look at this project on the Forest of Bowland website and read more about the five other selected National Landscape hubs in the Chilterns, Dorset, Lincolnshire, Mendip Hills and Surrey Hills.
