Join us for a relaxed conversation about what masculinity and fatherhood look like in 2025, as we welcome guest speakers, including artists, academics and those who work in this field, to Lancaster City Library.
Artists, David Labi and Reece Williams are both presenting shows at the Nuffield Theatre that explore Masculinity and Fatherhood. To dig deeper into some of the themes of the work, David and Reece will take part in our Conversation about Masculinity and Fatherhood alongside guests that will be confirmed shortly.
This talk will be an opportunity to unpack men’s relationships to fathers and fathers to sons, mental health, and coming to terms with the past and looking towards the future.
We’ll explore questions such as:
How does the father/son dynamic play out in specific communities, such as in Jewish and Black British households, and what role does faith, tradition and community play?
What is passed down – physically or metaphorically – from fathers to sons? What patterns repeat?
What does it mean to be a father of boys today? What are the challenges, risks and joys?
We welcome you to join the conversation. Light refreshments will be available.
