Exploring LAND kicks off our spring season by inviting you to explore and contribute to the rich variety of interpretations of Lancaster Arts’ 2025 annual theme, LAND, through works selected from the university art collection. We’ve invited collaborators with a wide range of interests and expertise to help us form questions around different aspects of the theme, from the physical landscape to the politics of land access.
From printmaking and photography, to more traditional painting and drawing, artists represented in the collection have engaged with LAND in range of ways. Drawing upon the university art collection, we’ve filled the gallery with visual stimuli to get us all thinking, talking and responding.
Are you curious about land rights and land access? Deep time, geology and the physical stuff that makes up the landscape? Borders, boundaries and how we belong in or to the land? Or the role of land in individual journeys and memories? Come and contribute your ideas and responses to an ongoing collaborative conversation.
