Born To Exist: The Woman I Know’s all-female hip hop dance theatre production explores what it is to be human, showing it in all its ugliness, beauty, contradictions and complexity.
Choreographer, Joseph Toonga makes and performs dance productions inspired by real life stories and relevant to the here and now. His craftsmanship and signature choreographic style challenges the conventions commonly used in hip hop dance and addresses racial prejudice and societal stereotypes.
Joseph is Emerging Choreographer at the Royal Opera House and the first UK black choreographer to create work for the Royal Ballet. This production completes Joseph’s Hip Hop Theatre trilogy and centres on the global majority female experience.
