Artist Panel: Socially Engaged Art: Deborah Fisher (A Blade of Grass), Kerry Morrison & Paul Hartley (In-Situ), John Angus (StoreyG2)
A panel discussion featuring artists and agencies investing and working in the emerging field of socially engaged art which mixes traditional community arts approaches with conceptual practice, activism and social work into a myriad of formats with an ambition to effect social change.
Joining from New York is Deborah Fisher, artist and founder of A Blade Of Grass – an agency actively promoting and helping to fund and facilitate the practice of SEA in the US, environment artist and ecologist Kerry Morrison & Paul Hartley from Pendle/ Brierfield based collective In-Situ who’ve fostered socially engaged projects locally including the re-proposing of part of Brierfield Mill heritage site as an art lab and John Angus, representing Lancaster's StoreyG2 who's project Landed (Freeman's Wood) is utlising aristic strategies to raise awareness of land ownership in the city.
