Ruth Barker - Tuesday Talk
Ruth Barker (born 1979, UK) received a BA Fine Art and an MA from Glasgow School of Art in 2004. Her work, including sculpture and spoken word, is performance based. She is interested in the ‘re-telling of ancient myths through original poetic composition and the ritual understanding of self, gender, and mortality’.
As well as being involved in various art festivals like Glasgow International festival of Visual Art, some of her exhibitions and projects include, Thenew Awake at Glasgow Women’s Library and Point Your Toes to the Ground at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, London. She also designed the first permanent British war memorial to commemorate non-combatants killed in conflict, sited beside the Cenotaph in Blackpool.
