A very warm welcome to the Jack Hylton room and a 50 minute musical meditation on peace. The concert is a fundraiser for the Solar Powered Well in Central Gaza, a project initiated by a Lancaster University graduate from Gaza who returned to live there a few years ago.
Lancaster based cellist Maja Bugge and trumpeter Pete Moser, together with Oud player Mina Salama and singer Jenna Mornas, will perform compositions and improvisations rooted in their own musical material as well as pieces by composers like Arvo Pärt and J.S. Bach. As musicians they wanted an opportunity to play together in peace, to reflect on the terrible crisis in the region and to bring people together in a quiet contemplative space.
The concert will be followed by refreshments and a chance to share reflections and thoughts.
