This unique and fun workshop accompanies the UK tour of the production Dr Carneskys’s Incredible Bleeding Woman (shown at Lancaster Arts the night before this workshop, on Friday 26th October at 8pm) and is open to ALL GENDERS AND IDENTITIES.
Marisa Carnesky invites you to take part in a special practical performance workshop exploring menstruation, activism and modern ritual. In a structured and supportive environment, you will be encouraged to create your own performances actions and invited to join the Menstronauts, a performance activist group born out of the show.
We ask you to bring red clothing and objects and to wear comfortable clothes to work in. Basic movement and warm up exercises will be led but no dance experience is needed. The workshop is suitable for students, practicing artists and the general public.
Marisa Carnesky is a UK performance practitioner with a practice spanning over 25 years. Past projects include the multimedia cross artform ride Carnesky’s Ghost Train and the solo work Jewess Tattooess. Since 2008 Carnesky has run performance workshops under the title Carnesky’s Finishing School, helping many young artists to create their own performance language and identity.
